This course provides the skills to compete in the interactive entertainment market. Aimed at those who have an interest in and an enthusiasm for software development, you may have recently gained your degree in a computing course which involved a strong element of software development or you may be someone who has worked as a software developer in industry and who is looking to break in to this exciting sector of the jobs market. |
The course provides a rich mix of practical programming experience in a challenging and interesting area of application. It instills good software engineering principles within this experience and provides a very practical learning environment where you will work on large scale joint projects with commercial partners, developing entrepreneurial skills so that you can sell your talent to others. |

| Course content |
| The different levels of the course are based on gaining credit points for successful completion of each unit module.You need 60 points for postgraduate certificate, 120 points for postgraduate diploma and 180 points for MSc. |

| • entrepreneurship and commercialisation of innovation (15 points) • 2D and 3D graphics (15 points) • process management for entertainment software (15 points) • architectures and technologies for entertainment software (15 points) |
Postgraduate diploma |
As for postgraduate certificate plus • interaction design for MM applications (15 points) • special techniques for graphics and animation (15 points) • product design and development project (30 points) |
The group project will require students to • establish requirements • design • implement • test • create a marketing strategy for an innovative software product for the entertainment industry. |
MSc |
| As for postgraduate diploma plus • research methods (15 points) • seminar programme (15 points) • dissertation (30 points) •The research methods module concentrates on the more practical research and development aspects of the industry. |
In the seminar programme students research and make presentations about developments in the field. There are also presentations by respected external speakers from industry and academia . |
The dissertation topic will relate to the project work done for the postgraduate diploma. We encourage submission of a substantial software component as part of the dissertation. |
